The University of York is a renowned Russell Group member, tackling global issues through its teaching, research and commitment to improving local and international communities. Our aim is to help students from all backgrounds secure the first steps of a career they’ll thrive in. A green, inclusive campus Over 20,000 students from over 140 countries – and a fair few ducks, squirrels and rabbits – all call our gorgeous parkland campus their home. We’re one of only a handful of UK universities to use a college system, where students live, socialise, and develop by taking part in countless opportunities to mix. Adding in hundreds of sports, societies and other student groups, you’ll have every possible chance to find your people. Supporting your career journey From the day you join as a student to long after graduation, we've got everything you need to accelerate your career from day one until after you graduate. From getting advice from a dedicated team of career advisors to developing key professional skills as part of your academic modules, and making connections in between, we aim to equip you with the career advantage you need upon graduating. A dynamic and modern city York is regularly voted among the friendliest, happiest and safest places to live in the UK (Aviva 2025; CUG 2024; Guardian 2025) – and for good reason. A city with a mix of rich history, diverse culture and modern innovation, it’s famed for its community feel and festivals throughout the year. To top it off, the city is surrounded by national parks and tourist hotspots, and has excellent transport links to the rest of the country. York is a Purple Flag-accredited city, which means it offers exceptional standards in vibrant, diverse and  safe evening and late-night experiences. Support at every stage Equal-access schemes and scholarships open the University up to as many students as possible. You will find your new support networks through our student groups and communities, which are there to help your physical and mental wellbeing through the highs and lows of studying.
